Gato, Market and Piqueo

June 3rd 11:00pm
Today was another long but fun day.
I woke up at 8:30am and went running! It was great! The side walks are very narrow so at times I was like “Con Permiso” to be able to get through the people. Later, my aunt told me that they don’t say that haha, apparently they just kinda get through and then say “Perdon” haha. Well, it was a good run regardless! It is cold in the mornings. After I came back, I showered and we had breakfast with mix of coffee, chocolate and milk and bread with butter. The bread here is delicious, specially since its fresh and warm. We went out to see more touristic attractions! We took subway, I think thats what its called, to see fancy buildings, cool infrastructure and an amazing market! I love the balconys, they are cute and give a touch of cuteness to the buildings. The market made me so hungry! It had colorful fruits in display, tons of cheese, meat, huge pig legs, pig hands, sausages, wine, olives and spices. We saw an sculpture made by an artist “Botero” in the middle of a “Plaza.” We looked a lot of buildings and infrastructure that has a lot of history behind it, it definetely makes me feel I’m in Spain.
I am pretty sure Lima has a feel to Spain, Barcelona is just very well taken care off and doesn’t have the crime rates that Lima has. I also like their accents, very different but sounds nice. We went to Columbus statue, is so tall! And has lion sculptures on the bottom that you can take picture on, but I was wearing a dress so not so much haha. RIght after, it started sprinkling and since we were by the ocean, it got suddenly very windy and cold. I got really cold and our touristic day ended....my eyes were so tired, I was cold, my camera was running out of battery...it was just time to head back. Back at the house, we ate a delicious soup that Joaquin cooked with “fideos” from here. Joaquin is the best tourist guide, he knows everything, the history behind it, where to take pictures, the right price to pay for stuff, so blessed to have him as an uncle. So most of the stuff he cooks and takes us is very native from here. Then, they let me nap for a few hours. They say that my body is not over jetlag yet, but I don’t really feel it, I think I would have napped probably regardless of jetlag haha, but maybe they are right. I have never felt like such a tourist before being here. I wish my family would be with me, there is a lot of times when I find myself thinking “my mom would love this” or my dad or my twin. I have only been here two days and miss a lot. Anyways, after my nap me and my aunt went on a hunt for wiifi. We went to a hospital but didn’t have wiifi, then we went to the library again and the wifi there let me used skype and ichat! I was so happy to see my sister and my mommy, I shared my screen with them and they saw the many pictures I have taken. Because the wifi is slow I will upload all my Barcelona pics when I get to germany, hopefully the wifi is better over there. Then we went to look at more streets at night and saw some of the night life. There is a ton of bars and places de “piqueos,” they invited me to try some, it was very good. They told me because is something very characteristical from here, is super expensive, the price of big meal apparently! It ws very good. They gave me a drink that tasted alcoholic but they said it wasn’t...haha
I like the fact that there are places open that late that people of all ages can go and have a good time. We went into a lot of tiny cute stores. They have lots of boutiques with very expensive beautiful things from artists and designers. They also have amazing jewelry, I want it all! haha. Jhonny called while we were looking at the stores and said he is coming tomorrow to visit! I know Jhonny from Peru. My parents were sunday school teachers to the youth back in Peru and Jhonny was one of them! Jhonny got to come visit us often and practice his cooking since he was in a cooking school back then. My mother considers him like her own son, I was little back then but I do remember a lot of Jhonny, he was always around. I am excited to spend some time with him tomorrow. I am waking up at 7:30 tomorrow to go running, read my Bible and get ready for another fun long day! :)
Please keep praying for me. I can feel God’s presence with me! Thank you for your prayers. Please keep praying for my aunt and my uncle. Today at lunch I asked her if she would like to pray instead of me and refused but at dinner, she took the initiative to pray! Praise God! :) At nights when I write I listen to the new CD my sister bought me before I left, Kristian Stanfill CD called Mountains Move. I love it, its so refreshing, its awesome. Pray for my health, the weather changes like crazy. Pray for Jhonny and that everything will turn out according to God’s plan in the days to come. My other Aunt Toñy is supposed to come visit Monday, I am excited about that as well. Pray that we might get some sunny days so we can enjoy the beach! :)
Love,
