AUS-ORD-LGA-JFK-BCN

I wrote this last night...after a long day. :) More coming soon!

My total flight trip was 22 hours! I left Austin at 8:25am and arrived in Barcelona at noon. From Austin to Chicago, was a two hour flight. In the flight, I got the window seat and enjoyed the view was spectacular landing. The sun was shining and it was just awesome seeing downtown Chicago from the sky on the coast. The lady sitting right next to me was super nice. She traveled from Austin, Chicago every month for work and seemed to really like it during the summer time. The landing was so awesome, I definetely want to go sometime during some summer! At the Chicago Airport, the toilet seats have plastic wrapped around them and if you wave your hand above it, it rotates to a new plastic, fancyyy! haha My next flight was to New York, La Guardia Airport. The flight was 2 hours and 5 minutes and a business man sat by me, he was super busy with his work in his laptop. From La Guardia, I had to transfer airports to JFK, which is about 40 minutes. In the way there, I met a girl that had studied abroad in Germany last summer. She shared her amazing experiences and told me she loved it! It was encouraging to hear :) I also met a lady from Russia that works in a University of Wisconsin in the ESL program, she has the priviledge to visit her family in Russia yearly and she was a really nice person to talk to! On JFK Airport I waited from 5pm till 8:15 to get on the plane. Once in the plane, they told us that they had to some “mechanic check” and we waited two hours to take off. I think it was because there was thunder storms and they might have not wanted to be scared haha. Anyways, in the two hours, I got to meet the guy sitting right next to me. He was from Barcelona and had spent a semester in a Design University in Rhode Island. He was sad to go back from an amazing semester but glad to go back to warmer weather than Rhode Island. He had an accent, and he explained the difference between Catalan and Spanish. What was most interesting to me, was the fact that he absolutely loved his major. He was double majoring in Interior Design and Industrial Design. Even though, his class work take over his life, he loves it, he enjoys being creative, photoshop and just doing his job.
He had worked in an Advertising Agency in Spain and he said it was very time consuming, but he liked it. It made me realize that I need to major in something I enjoy studying about. I am praying that God will show me what. I failed to apply to the business school, but I have peace about it. I did not get the GPA I would have liked this semester and I know the chances of me getting in was very unlikely. On top of that reason, I ran out of time to apply since I had to get ready for my trip. I feel that Public Relations might be the way I need to go. I will be taking Internation Public Relations when I study in Germany this summer, so I am hoping that will help me decide. Please pray so that God will keep on guiding me.
I finally made it to Barcelona by noon on June 2nd! It was great to see my Aunt Marlene after all this years. She is still getting through her chemotherapy. She can’t work because of it and she is getting less income because of it. Pray so that God will heal her, and guide her what comes after she recuperates. Because she is Peruvian, she has a hard time getting a stable job. She has always worked on contract. It has helped her that she is an specialist and has lots of years of experience. She is a doctor and a pediatrist. After she recuperates, which she is hoping is within the next 8 months, she has to look for a job. She has shared with me that is hard to find a job nowadays. She has applied for Spain citizenship since she is married to an Spain citizen. Once she has the Spain citizenship, it will be much easier for her to find a job and she will be able to travel easier. Because her job is not as stable as she would like, she has moved between cities in Spain. She has lived in five different cities. She says she likes moving and change, but her husband loves Barcelona and would like to stay here. And I can see why. Barcelona is beautiful. My Aunt lives right in the middle of everything. The buildings are all about 6 stories and there is not much space in the streets. People are always on the street walking around, they rely on their railway, metro and subway transportation to move around. It reminds of Peru in a way, the People in the street, certain designs and the language of course. Their apartment is very tiny but comfy. I am staying in their living room in an inflatable bed. They live right next to a elementary school and in the morning, the kids voices come in the apartment. There is no air conditioning, anywhere. But the weather was nice. I was praying for no rain, and no rain! In fact, the weather has been so nice. Not too hot and some wind. For lunch, I tried a vegetable juice called Ghazpacho and some chicken with “trigo.” They said the juice is native from here, but the meal was not. Joaquin, my aunt’s husband loves cooking many different kinds of food. He also cooked some regional sausage called Butifarra. I also tried Kiwi for the first time, I liked it! After lunch, we went to see the spectacular view on top of a hill. It was so high, I could see the whole city around me, it was breathtaking! I could see “La Sagrada Familia” and the other fancy well known touristic attractions that I will be seeing in the upcoming days! Then, they took me to a beautiful park called “Park Guell,” which was also designed by the famous guy that designed “La Sagrada Familia.” The park was so beautiful, it was very long and it was very charming. It was a lot of fun to take pictures everywhere around the park! haha :) We had a blast taking pictures of almost everything. There are tourists everywhereeee but they don’t stop me and my picture taking skillz haha. My Aunt is so nice, she is definetely spoiling me. She took me to have some coffee and some sweet filled with cream and chocolate, it was so goodddd! :) Then it took forever to figure out the wifi, we walked around the whole city trying to look for free wifi. We finally found some by a library in a “plaza.” Unfortunately, the skype and my ichat don’t work with it :( I can only use Safari on it, so I can still check my email, facebook and chat!
Then they asked me what I wanted for dinner, and Joaquin cooked some amazing Spaguetti! He lovesss cooking and he is good! It makes me happy to see that my Aunt is happy with him, they got married a few years ago and they are cute together, I am thankful to God for bringing someone like him along for my Aunt, he takes good care of her. I have been praying for our meals, which seems to be new to them. I am thankful that they are open to my prayers and my aunt is open about talking about God! I am definetely praying for them! I can’t wait what else God has in store. Also pray for good weather the rest of the week and for protection. I am so supposed to go running by myself tomorrow morning, but we will seeeee haha
I am so tired, goodnightttt :)
