Leipzig is a city bigger than Erfurt that is an hour and a half away from here. Everything to see is within walking distance of the main train station. My roommate Ariel loved Leipzig, even better than Munich she said! There is music everywhere and a ton more tourists than Erfurt. We got to see some awesome buildings, so much detail! gorgeous. We went into the church that Sebastian Johann Bach started playing at and he is very well known in this city. We also found a small festival with music and tons of people, it felt welcoming and alive. We found a small coffee shop that just blew Ariel's mind away. She is obsessed with coffee and this store was just for her. They had coffee from all over the world. She was overwhelmed. We finally decided which one we wanted a had a cup of coffee! It was really good! I had bought a chocolate Milka with caramel previously, so coffee with chocolate was an excellent combination :)
At 8pm we attended a classical musical concert of Illya Poletaev playing the piano! It was so beautiful to hear!!!! He was amazing. He played songs by Bach and some other famous people. The two hours flew by. Leipzig is considered one of the main cities of classical music in the world! We saw little kids walking around with instruments, precious.
Of course, we had to catch our train back to Erfurt at night and the last one left within 20 minutes from the time the concert ended. Yes, we ran once again through the german streets haha. It added what we needed to end an excellent day in this beautiful city. Every time we wanted to make sure we were running the wrong direction, I would ask someone "wo ist die Hauptbahnhof?" which means where is the train station and they would say this long direction in german and thankfully would point towards the direction and we would just run that way. Thank God Ariel has a good sense of direction cause without her I don't know where I'll be haha. We made it on time to the train station. Took a bus that lasted about an hour to get to Salle (i think) and there we switched to a train. At that train station, we met an old men that was nice enough to let us know that the train would split so we would need to make sure we sat on the right part of the train. He asked the german officers and helped us figure out where to sit. When we were on the train, he found us again since apparently there had been a confusion where he needed to sit and they had sent him to our wagon. Regardless, we ended up talking to this man for a good hour. He was really nice and told us that since we are Americans and because of WWII we can make some paperwork and study in Germany for as long as we want and the German government would pay. He said that we should check into it but he had heard people that have done so! It was also really interesting to hear his point of view on history. He ended up showing us his ring that on the side had a Swastika and told us he was a neo-Nazi! and that he didn't hate any races. It was interesting to hear what he had gone through during the war while in Germany and how he had been sold and ended up in America! I enjoyed talking to him and seeing what he had learned from his life. He was traveling all of Germany in three weeks for 200 Euro because he was over 60! and he told us how he was loving it!
This week has been warmer and the summer is starting here in Germany! Im hoping it doesnt get too hot since I leave in the last floor (6th) and no air conditioning nor elevator! I think the highest it has gone so far is 80 but we will see!
The purple field outside our apartments has switched to a red field, is so gorgeous! God is amazing :)
Julia (one of the german students) taught us how to make Schnitzel! which is like chicken fried steak pretty much haha. After cooking we watched Despicable Me.Me and my roomie watched Life is Beautiful on YouTube. I had watched it when I was little but didnt appreciate it as much as I do now, especially after visiting Buchenwand (concentration camp). Wonderful movie, so touching.
My dream has always been to travel the world, I just didn't know I would start when I was 19. God is so good.
I'll be visiting my friend Cecilia and my teacher Christina this weekend in Hannover and then I'll fly to Rome!
Please pray for everyone as we all travel!
Be writing soon about the weekend!
Goodnight! :)
